3 Things You Need to Consider Before Renovating a House

As a customer of Tidal Cleaning Services, we know that you’re super house proud. You wouldn’t have invited us around to make your windows shine if you didn’t want your home to look nice right? As such, are you looking for ways to give your house an upgrade?

Renovating a house is a great way to build more equity, but before you go wild with the paintbrush or toolbox, we wanted to share three things to help you out.

Find inspiration

Just thinking about house renovation and where to start alone could sound complicated already, but it shouldn’t be when you’re inspired. Before you unleash the interior designer inside you, we suggest you take ample time to find ideas and inspiration for your living room maybe or bedroom perhaps.

Another thing would be getting clear on your visuals. Your initial idea might be great in your mind, but what would that actually look like? There are so many great tools to spark your imagination and bring your vision to life.

Pinterest, Instagram, and Living magazine are just a few of our personal favourites. Spend a good few hours letting your creativity run wild looking for house renovation ideas, saving pictures, and bookmarking references and we recommend that you do.

Make plans

So you’ve found lots of visuals, but what can you do with them? We’re huge fans of creating a mood board. You can use the feature in Pinterest, screenshot images and save them in a new album on your phone or go old style and print, cut, and get your glue pen out!

Also, why not contact suppliers for wood samples, fabric swatches, and paint charts? Most companies are more than happy to share previews of their products. Collate it all together to see the end result. Does it all come together as you had hoped? Yes, then you’re ready to go. No WAIT, hold the phone!

Reflect

The last thing we suggest you do before starting your project is to take some time to reflect and digest. Design is often a reflection of your current mood and emotional state. Now, we don’t need to go into the details, but sometimes, a lot is going on in the world in general and you may not be feeling yourself for various reasons.

Consider whether you will like any changes that you make in three months. If you’re not sure then wait and ponder it a little. You wouldn’t want to have to do it all again after investing time and money.

From coming up with ideas and coming up with a budget, renovating a house can present a handful of challenges. Nonetheless, we hope that by following the steps we’ve mentioned above, your house renovation project will be a success.
